The
UT 755 L design vessel MALAVIYA NINETEEN was delivered from Aker Aukra AS to The
Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., Mumbai, India in January. The contract price
was about NOK 120 million.
The
Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd. is India's largest non-state shipping company
and is very strong within the area of offshore support services. That part of
the company's activities started in 1983, and the company is running a fleet of
more than 30 units including rigs, supply vessels and tugs.
The main engine for propulsion consists of two Bergen Diesel KRMB-9 diesel engines
of 2005 kW each at 825 rpm. These are coupled to Kamewa Ulstein propellers via
reduction gears of the same make, type 600 AGSC-KP 680. The vessel's maximum speed
is 14.5 knots.
The
Tenfjord steering gears serve two High Lift rudders, and the manoeuvring capabilities
are improved by the three Kamewa Ulstein side thrusters of which one, type 150
TV, is located aft, and two fore, type 250TV, all with an output of 590 kW.
Electricity
is produced by two AVK shaft generators of 1600 kVA and two Volvo Penta diesels
with generators of 325 kVA.
The electronic wheelhouse equipment comprises Furuno FR-2135S and FR-2115 radars,
Furuno FE-700 echo sounder, Furuno DS-80 log, Raytheon St. 22 gyro compass, Anschütz
Pilotstar D auto pilot, Furuno MF/HF radio station, Furuno FM-8700 and FM-2721
VHF, four portable Motorola GP340 EX, UHF, three Tron VHFs, Furuno Felcom 82B
Satcom Inmarsat-B, two Furuno Felcom 15 Satcom Inmarsat C, Furuno FA-100 AIS,
Furuno NX-500 Navtex, Tron 40S emergency transmitter and two SART radar transponders.
The alarm system is of Umas make.
