Fiskebas
Fishing Company Ltd., Shetland took in March delivery of the fishing boat ANTARCTIC
II from Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk AS.The
vessel is designed by Skipsteknisk AS, and the hull was built at Sedef Shipbuilding,
Turkey.
The
vessel has nine tanks for cargo, and the RSW-plant is from Optimar. Karmøy
Winch has been the supplier of deck machinery. The life-saving equipment includes
two 16-persons Viking liferafts, and the vessel is arranged with accommodation
for a crew of 15.
The
main propulsion is by a MaK 12M32C diesel engine with an output of 6,000 kW which
drives a Scana Volda reduction gearbox to turn a propeller of the same make. The
vessel's speed unloaded is 17 knots.
The
vessel is equiped with a Tenfjord steering gear with a Becker rudder, and the
manoeuvring is assisted by two Brunvoll side thrusters each of 880 kW.
The auxiliary power is provided by two Volvo Penta D25A motors, each of 753 kW,
and a shaft generator of 2,400 kW.
The
engine room alarm system is from Umas, while Read Matre has supplied bridge control
alarm. Other suppliers are Nexans AS with UPS, Trafo, frequency inverters, SAP
with pilot chairs and Zenitel Marine with the PA-system. Williamson & Sons, Shetland
installed the electronic bridge equipment.
