Leirvik AS delivered in March a 53m long trawler to Kvalskjær AS, Fosnavåg.
The vessel is built according to a NVC design, and the total price for vessel
and fishing quotas is about NOK 70 million. This was the yard's first fishing
vessel for about eight years. KVALSKJÆR
has been arranged for both pelagic and bottom trawling. The four net drums enables
her to use different type of trawls. The RSW plant is provided by Optimar Kulde
AS, and the vacuum system is from Optimar Herøy AS.
The trawler is arranged with accommodation for a crew of eight persons. The electrical
installations have been performed by Havyard Electro AS, and Helkama has provided
cables. The vessel
is powered by a MAN B&W Alpha Diesel 8L27/38-VBS diesel engine of 2,720 kW. The
engine is driving a MAN B&W Alpha Diesel propeller plant via a reduction gear
of the same make. She is equipped with a Tenfjord steering gear to operate a High
Lift rudder, and has also a Kamewa Ulstein 90TV side thruster of 370 kW. Two
Caterpillar 3408TA diesels each of 410 kW and a AVK shaft generator furnish energy
for auxiliary operations. The CO2 fire-fighting system is from Unitor, and the
alarm system is delivered by Servoteknik. The
bridge alarm is from Umas V, and Sletten Electronics has done the installation
work of equipment such as Furuno radars, Furuno echo sounder, Furuno FCV-30 sonar
and Furuno radio station. The gyro compass and auto pilot are both of Simrad make,
og the chart plotter is of MacSea brand. Scanmar ScanBas catch control system
has also been installed onboard.
