Libas AS, Straume took in June delivery of the trawler/purse seiner LIBAS from Fitjar Mek. Verksted AS. The vessel is designed by Vik-Sandvik AS and represents the tenth vessel designed by the company for this Owner. Speed/consumption criteria were all important during the design work, and 20 knots speed in loaded condition was a stipulation from the Owner's side. LIBAS will spend half of her time trawling with on blue whiting with gear from Egersund Trawl.

The vessel is powered by a Wärtsilä 12L32 diesel engine with an output of up to 7,500 kW. The engine is coupled to a Wärtsilä Propulsion CPS100 propeller via a gearbox of the same make type SCV 95/2 - PD 58. The two Brunvoll side thrusters improve her manoeuvring capabilities.

Two Volvo Penta D65A-MS-KC diesel motors from Bjordal & Madsen and two Alconza generators each provide 1875 kVA of energy for auxiliary operations. The emergency generator is of Sabb Iveco make.

Karmøy Winch has supplied deck machinery, such as purse winch, end wire winch, tail end winch, top line winch, net drums and fish pump in addition to fish pump crane, deck crane and trawl handling crane. Triplex has developed and supplied the gear to haul and stack the vessel's purse seine under cover.

The RSW-plant is delivered by Midt-Troms Kjøleservice AS and the vacuum system by Optimar Herøy AS.

The Smart Chief II integrated automation system is delivered by Bjørge Steinco Moland AS, and Moltech Norge AS in co-operation with Simrad supplied and installed the electronic wheelhouse equipment. This features Sperry Marine Bridgemaster E 10 cm and 3 cm radars, Simrad ES 60 and EQ 60 echo sounders, Kaijo KSE 100 echo sounder, Kaijo 2200 Super and Kaijo 2180 sonars, Simrad SH 80 and SP 90 sonars, ADCP log, Simrad gyro compass, Simrad AP9 Mk3 auto pilot, Seapos satellite-navigator, Sailor VHF, Sailor System 4000 w/2 MF/HF SSB GMDSS A3, Comrod antennas, Scanmar trawl control and Kelvin Hughes VDR.
