Rødne Trafikk AS (L. Rødne & Sønner), Sjernarøy i Rogaland took delivery of RYGERFJORD in May as the eleventh vessel the Owners have contracted at Brødrene Aa AS, Hyen. The price is about NOK 20 million, and the vessel is built in carbon sandwich.

RYGERFJORD can accommodate 97 passengers, and in addition to operation in regular services, she will also undertake sightseeing trips. The hull lines are developed by SINTEF Marintek and the superstructure lines by Hareide Design Mill. L. Rødne & Sønner AS operates now 16 high-speed boats mainly in the Ryfylke area.

The propulsion machinery consists of two MAN diesel engines each of 749 kW, two Servogear VD 805B propellers and two Servogear HD 220H reduction gears. The trial tests showed a maximum speed of 38 knots, but the service speed will be in the 26-30 knots range.

The steering gear is of Tenfjord make and the rudder is also from Servogear. For better manoeuvring the boat has a Sleipner bow thruster. Electricity is produced by a Nogva motor of 28 kVA.

RYGERFJORD will be operated by a crew of three. The boat has two DSB liferafts each of 100 men capacity and supplied by Koppernæs Brude Safety.
