Gardar
Hellesøy Verft AS

Hellesøy Verft AS, Løfallstrand has built the new GARDAR for K. Halstensen AS, Austevoll, and the trawler was handed over to the Owner in July. The vessel was designed by Vik-Sandvik, and the price for the vessel was around NOK 170 million. The hull was built in Romania, at the Navol Shipyard.

GARDAR is built as a combined trawler/purse seiner/factory vessel and is the first one with a stern fish pump bringing the fish directly from the trawl through a piping arrangement at the port side of the vessel to the sorting machines forward on the main deck and then to the RSW-tanks.

The vessel is further equipped with a vision system from VMK Fish Machinery which enables a faster entry of the fish into the filleting machines.

GARDAR is powered by a Wärtsilä 12V32 diesel engine with an output of 5520 kW at 750 rpm driving a Wärtsilä Propulsion SCV 95-PT 116 reduction gear to turn a CP100 propeller of the same make.

The steering gear is of Tenfjord make, and two Brunvoll side thrusters improve the manoeuvring capabilities of the vessel, one forward of 700 kW and the other located aft of 883 kW. TwoCaterpillar generator sets type 2508BTA of 968 kW provides electrical energy onboard.

The RSW system is supplied by York Refrigeration, and the fish factory and vacuum discharge system are from Optimar.

The electronic wheelhouse equipment incorporates alarm systems from York and Matre and monitors from Hatteland. The installation work has been carried out by Vico AS of Furuno FAR-2117 (3cm) radar, FR-2137S (10cm) radar, Furuno FCV-1200 echo sounder, Furuno FSV-30 and CSH-84 sonars, Imagenex CS-400 catch sensor, Imagenex TS-331A trawl sonar, Furuno CI-68G log, Simrad AP9 Mk III auto pilot, Furuno GP-90 GPS, Telchart 2120 chart plotter and C-Map charts.

The communication equipment includes Sailor C04693B GMDSS A3 radio station, Tron 40S and 45SX emergency beacon, Tron portable VHFs, Sailor 250 RT 4822 and RT 2048 VHFs, Furuno NX-500 navtex, Furuno SC-60 satellite heading sensor, Sailor Satcom C and Mini M.
