The live fish carrier ØYTIND was delivered from Aas Mek. Verksted AS, Vestnes to Bømlo Brønnbåtservice AS, Bremnes in October. The vessel is of AAS 852 TRF design.

The vessel is equipped with an enclosed system wherby no water escapes during the transport, nor during discharging, but is being disinfected and taken back to where the fish was loaded.

The trend is moving towards longer transport time which however will not effect the quality of the fish. The loading method is by a pressure system. The sorting/counting system is supplied by Aqua Scan.

The cargo hold has a capacity of 850 m3 split into two RSW tanks. The RSW-plant is delivered by Skogland. The monitoring- and regulating system of the oxygen contents in the water is supplied by Marine Control, while the system for disinfecting the cargo hold and pipe system is supplied by Ozotech Marine.

The accommodation is arranged for a crew of six persons. The vessel is equipped with a rescue craft and two liferafts, both supplied by Erling Haug.

The propulsion system consists of a CAT 3512B HD diesel engine of 1119 kW at 1200 rpm coupled to a Finnøy Gear & Propeller propeller via a gear of the same make. The auxilirary engines are of CAT make, two motors type C18 with Stamford generators.

The steering gear is of Tenfjord make, and the to improve the manoeuvring capabilities ØYTIND is equipped with two Schottel STT 110 LK side thrusters from William Knudsen.

The electronic wheelhouse equipment incorporates Furuno equipment such as FAR-2117 radar, FAR-2137 radar, FE-700 echo sounder, DS-80 log, GP-90 GPS, Telchart T2025 chart plotter, NX-500 navtex, FS-1570 MF/HF SSB, GMDSS A1 radio, FM-8500 VHF, FA-100 AIS and Felcom. In addition the vessel has Anchütz Gyrostar, Anchütz Pilotstar D autopilot, Tron VHF, Tron 40S and Tron 45SX emergency transmitter, SART radar transponder, Telluar GSM900 w/fax and Nokia portable telephone. The installation work was carried out by O. Øverland AS.
