The
ice-going passenger vessel SÖDERARM was delivered from Moen Slip AS, Kolvereid
to Waxholms Ångfartygs AB, Stockholm in April, as the first of three ships.
The
350-passenger capacity vessel is constructed to be able to force ice and is termed
as a year-around archipelago vessel. The vessel is built according to the yard's
own design.
The
propulsion machinery consists of two Mitsubishi S6R2 MPTKF diesel engines with
an output of 530 kW each. The two propellers are of Schottel make type STP 550,
and the vessel is equipped with a Schottel STT side thruster as well. Two Mitsubishi
6D24T motors and Stamford generators make up the auxiliary machinery.
The
bridge equipment includes Furuno FR-2125 B and FR-2115 B radars, NOR BN35PL magnetic
compass, Simrad AP 50 auto pilot, Simrad HC 50 compass, Adveto AECDIS-2000 chart
plotter and two Jotron TRON-20 VHFs. The installation work was performed by Arne
Wahl-Olsen AS.
