The MT 6009 design supply vessel SKANDI CAPTAIN was delivered from Myklebust Verft AS, Gurskøy to DOF Rederi AS in March. The price for the newbuilding was about NOK 140 million. The hull was built at Shipyard Severnav in Romania.

SKANDI CAPTAIN has a diesel-electrical propulsion system with two Ulstein Aquamaster US 205 CRP and two Kamewa Ulstein tunnel thrusters. Four Mitsubishi S12R-MPTA diesel engines each of 1190 kW driving four Siemens generators provide power to the propulsion system.

The superstructure holds accommodation for a complement of 14 plus eight passengers. The life-saving equipment consists of 4x25 persons Viking liferafts and Viking MOB-boat, supplied by Mare Safety.

The electronic navigations equipment installed by Ulstein Elektro comprises Furuno FR-2135S BB radar, FR-2115 X BB radar w/interswitch RJ-7, Furuno FE-700 echo sounder, Cassen & Plath magnetic compass, Furuno DS-80 log, S.G. Brown gyro compass, Simrad AP9 MK III auto pilot, Furuno GP-90 satellite-navigator and Furuno FEA-2105.

For communication purposes the vessel is equipped with Skanti MF/HF SSB radio, TRP1501 GMDSS A3, Tron 40S emergency beacon, SART radar transponder, three Jotron TR-20 portable VHF's, two Skanti 1100 VHF's, Skanti 1000P VHF, Motorola GM360 UHF, six GP900 EX UHF, Furuno Navtex NX-500, Thrane & Thrane TT3020C Inmarsat C, Thrane & Thrane CAPSAT TT3084A Inmarsat F and Furuno FA-100 AIS. DP-system is a Kongsberg Maritime delivery.
