Solstrand
AS, Tomrefjord delivered the mid-water trawler ALTAIRE to Altaire Fishing Co.,
Lerwick, Shetland in October. This is the largest and fastest vessel ever built
at Solstrand, and the price for the newbuilding is around NOK 175 million. The
hull was built at Sedef Shipyard in Turkey.

AS is also in this case the designer of a large trawler, and actually this was
the fourth time for this Owner.
The
vessel is powered by a Wärtsilä 16V32 diesel engine with an output of
8000 kW coupled to a Wärtsilä Propulsion propeller via a reduction gear
of the same make. During sea trials the vessel achieved a speed of 19 knots.
The vessel is equipped with a Tenfjord steering gear and Becker rudder, and to
improve the manoeuvring further, she has two Brunvoll side thrusters.
Two
Mitsubishi/Stamford generator sets provide 750 kVA each to furnish energy for
auxiliary operations along with a Leroy Somer shaft alternator.
For
fire fighting in the engine room the vessel as a CO2 total flooding system from
Alf Lea & Co. Brannvern.
The
RSW plant from Teknotherm consists of 13 tanks with a total capacity of 2500 m3.
Karmøy Winch AS has provided the vessel with winches and cranes, while
the life-saving equipment comes from Erling Haug, including liferafts and rescue
boat.
The vessel's
accommodation gives room for a crew of 17. The electronic equipment has been supplied
by Williamson & Sons Ltd.
