Aas
Mek. Verksted, Vestnes delivered the 1030 m3 tanker OCEAN BREEZE to Marine Tankers
Services AS, Bergen in February. The tanker will perform distribution services
for Shell within the Caribbean. The vessel complies with new rules for tankers
with double hull and the rules of U.S. Coast Guard.
The
capacity for oil is 1030 m3 split in 10 tanks plus slop tanks. The vessel is also
equipped with tanks for carriage of LPG.
The
tanks are monitored by MMC-Europe control system. The tanker has two Caterpillar
3412 TA main engines of 536 kW each driving two Finnøy propellers via reduction
gears of the same make. She is fitted with Tenfjord steering gear and has two
Marine Propulsion Inc. side thrusters to assist in the harbour manoeuvring.
Two
Caterpillar gensets provide electrical energy onboard. Two hydraulic hosedrums
from Hannay Reels are located on the main deck. OCEAN BREEZE is arranged with
six single cabins and two double ones to accommodate a complement of ten.
The vessel's manouevring system is supplied by Erling Myklebust Mek. Verksted.
