Aa AS, Hyen delivered the ambulance boat RYGERSTRIL to her Owners, Rødne
Ambulanse, in October. The boat has been hired by Austevoll local authorities
to perform ambulance duties in the nearby areas.
The
vessel's hull lines were developed by Sintef Marintek and the superstructure by
Hareide Design Mill. The basic material used in the construction is Divinycell
from DIAB. The use of carbon fibre makes the boat about 40% lighter than by using
more conventional materials, such as aluminium.
The
main propulsion power is provided by two MTU S60 diesel engines, each of 615 kW.
The engines drive two Kamewa FF 410 water jets via two Twin Disc 5114 SC reduction
gearboxes. The boat achieved a speed of 39.9 knots on the sea trials.
