SPM
Express S.A. took in December delivery of the 40m FlyingCat ATLANT JET from Fjellstrand
AS, Omastrand. The vessel is built as a catamaran with a passenger capacity of
264.
The
hull is built in aluminium with Unrestricted navigation class with BV. The French
flag vessel is equipped with the yard's Motion Dampening System ensuring a pleasant
journey for the passengers even in rough sea conditions.
The
fast speed catamaran is powered by two MTU 396 TE74L diesel engines each of 2,000
kW, which are coupled to two Kamewa water jet propellers via two ZF reduction
gears. The propulsion machinery gives the vessel a speed of 33 knots. Electricity
is provided by two generator sets of Nogva Scania diesels and Stamford alternators.
The lifesaving
equipment onboard includes two Zodiac MES, each caring for 150 persons, and in
addition there are 3x50 men liferafts.
The
extensive electronic equipment installed by Maritime Elektro incorporates Furuno
FAR-2117 radars, Furuno FE-700 echo sounder, Vision system for night navigation,
C. Plath Beta compass, Furuno DS-80 log, Simrad GC85 gyro compass, Simrad AP9
auto pilot, Furuno GP-90 navigator, Furuno NX-500 navtex, Tron 40S og 45X emergency
beacons and two Tron SART radar transponders.
Furthermore,
the communication instruments feature Furuno MF/HF FS-1570 radio, Jotron AIR VHF,
Furuno FM -8500 VHF, Jotron TR 20 VHF, Furuno FA-100 AIS, Furuno Felcom 16 SSAS,
Furuno Felcom 15 Inmarsat C, Furuno DMC-5 and Ruter VDR 100. The Public Address
system is from Jørn B. Knutsen. MTU har supplied the alarm system for the
engine room.
